Sam’s Two Cents

So it’s been a while again. I’ve been pretty busy with school. Not so much homework as just having to be AT school. Homework’s been pretty tame so far. Big double header game in Long Beach last Saturday. UCI women’s lost (no surpise there), and the men played a very close game and won, leaving them 8-0 so far this season.

First, I have some blogs and and sites to you link you to. First is one by one of my coworkers. He’s got some cool random stuff and nicely documented my first day, and many of my subsequent days at the office. (And no I’m not picking my nose in the second one, if you look closely you can see that I’ve mearly got my head resting in my hand pondering whatever it was I was working on. Second site is www.countingthenumbers.com. More proof that there are crazy people in the world, and you can profit from them.

In other news plans are slowly begining to form for the house, bum bum BUM! Basically me and 5 of my friends (XPert, Jon, and Tim included) are planning on renting a house together starting (hopefully) this summer. In addition to spawning some very interesting blogs, it should be a ton of fun. We’ll have all sorts of computers and gaming consoles everywhere. Speaking of gaming consoles, I’m minorly impressed with the xbox360. I don’t have one, but I’ve played on XPert’s a few times. The wireless controlers have given us a bit of trouble, but nothing too critical (though one was DOA, and was returned for a wired one). And the powersupply is truely enormous.

So today I was driving out of a parking lot after having lunch at Subway and this guy in a Cox van pointed at me and yelled that I had a nice truck. I didn’t hear exactly what he said, but one of the words looked like “Toyota”. So I honked my awesome horn (I got an Aaooga horn from my grandpa) and gave him a thumbs up. He waved again and said something else, but I was driving away and there was a big truck nearby. Well after class I noticed someone had thrown a cup into my truck bed. Then I realized it was a Subway cup, and remembered I’d set my cup from lunch on the roof of my truck when I was getting in. I now know exactly what that guy was saying…

I don’t much like UPS.

I’m setting up new sounds for all sorts of stuff I have at home. My computer now has a female voice, but one that sounds very realistic. Adium (my instant messenger of choice) got some new sounds, and my phone ringtone if no longer the Serious Sam Credits, but instead the Incredibles theme. It makes answering the phone an adventure (or at least makes it sound that way).

Sound card and BF2:SF come tomorrow. This will be the first time I’ve ever bought a sound card. I’ll let y’all know how it goes. Until then, good night!

Well, I haven’t missed a Tuesday yet, so I figured I’d better not start now. Odd since Tuesdays seem to be my busiest days schedule-wise, but I guess once I get going I feel more productive or something.

I’m going to try to start doing pushups every day, and eventually perhaps some situps, calf raises, etc… So far I’m off to a slow start with a 1-day streak.

I’ve been meaning to post about this for a while, but never got around to it: Some people need to not make blogs! I mean, I don’t doubt that everyone has the ability to blog to some extent, but some people write nothing but despressing stories about how they feel sorry for themselves, and their lives are just so miserable, and frankly, I don’t want to hear about it and I doubt anyone else does. Get a paper journal or something and keep your misery to yourself. This isn’t to say of course you shouldn’t blog about something bad that happens to you, just that you shouldn’t be too pathetic sounding. I could probably find blogs of a few people I know to point this out, but that might be a tad too mean. I’m sure you all know the blogs I’m talking about though.

I’ve also decided that I want to learn the Dvorak keyboard layout. I’m writing this whole paragaph in it. I’ve been told that it makes you type slower in Qwerty, but I figure if people can be bi lingual then I can be bi boardal.

Gah! That’s a lot of work. Makes me jumpy. I need a keyboard labeled Dvorak so I can look at the keys for a while. It’s not AS difficult as I thought it might be though. Anyway, hopefully I’ll actually stick to learning this unlike all the other stuff I’ve tried to teach myself over the years.
